The Forge in Joliet, Illinois. Arguably one of the best venues in Illinois for exhilarating badass metal shows. The vibes, the music, the overall atmosphere: amazing. Seeing The Kingdoms Disdained Tour make a pit stop at The Forge was phenomenal!
Opening up this killer tour package was 3 piece band from hometown Illinois, Hate Storm Annihilation. This band was seriously slaughtered the night and had great stage presence. The humor paired with brutality made for a great set. Hate Storm Annihilation performed tantalizing tracks like “Lucifer Rising”, and even few songs that have yet to be released! If you missed this astounding band or crave to see them again, you will have the opportunity during an upcoming tour that Hate Storm Annihilation has with a sick band called Seven Spires. Catch these amazing bands in Chicago on the first date of that tour!
With very little time to recover, the next band to took the stage inducing the crowd into a state of shock. It isn’t very often that an awesome death metal band is comprised entirely of women. Dreaming Dead, a 4 piece out of Oregon, had powerful stage performance, drawing the crowd in as if under a spell. Women in death metal are few and far between, and vocalist Elizabeth Schall not only slayed some killer vocals, but is also a beast on the guitar. Dreaming Dead played some tracks off of their 2012 album titled “Midnightmares” spurring the crowd to commit them to memory. Showgoers were quickly pulling out their phones to follow the band on every social media website out there instantly, and I suggest you should do the same!
Next to demolish the stage was 4 piece band from New York, the infamous Origin! These guys always have something new and crazy to bring to the table. They exude stage energy, and are seriously one of the most enjoyable bands to see live, you can’t help but have the most fun of your life! Vocalist Jason Keyser keeps everyone entertained, cracking jokes or screaming in your face. No one could help but give Origin every bit if their attention. Origin opened up their set with their song “Infinitesimal To The Infinite” off their newest 2017 album “Unparalleled Universe” and the pits broke out almost instantly! It was a special night for Origin as they were celebrating the 10 year anniversary of their 2008 album “Antithesis.” An almighty 10 years is quite the achievement, so of course Origin had to play some key tracks from that flawless album such as “Wrath Of Vishnu” and “The Aftermath.” It wouldn’t be a typical Origin show without the 3 elements of a great Origin show: crowd surfers, head banging, circle pits, and of course a bonus…a tremendous wall of death. Illinois wasn’t about to let Origin down, and they gave them each and every one of those things!
Now, the reason we are all here. A 4 piece legendary band from Florida, Morbid Angel! A lot of amazing bands have hailed from Florida, and Morbid Angel is one of the best. Fans are thrilled to see vocalist/bassist Steven Tucker performing with Morbid Angel once again, as he really ties the ensemble together. Morbid Angel opened up their set with the song “I” off their 2000 album “Gateways To Annihilation”. Immediately, a sea of heads were banging and the pits were circling. Morbid Angel had something in store for every Morbid Angel fan whether loyal old-school fans or new fans. The set featured songs from albums like “Heretic” from 2003, “Formulas Fatal To The Flesh” from way back in 1998, and with it being the Kingdoms Disdained Tour, Morbid Angel performed tracks from their most recent 2017 album “Kingdoms Disdained.” To close out their set, Morbid Angel delivered a relentless and brutal performance of their song “To The Victor The Spoils” another track off their 2000 album “Gateways To Annihilation.”
There is still two or so weeks left of the Kingdoms Disdained Tour, so definitely go out of your way to catch these phenomenal bands as they demolish the stage each and every night!
